ABOUT
Pines is a four piece alternative band out of Port Republic, NJ. The summer of 2014 marks the beginning of Pines, where good friends Steve Heckmann and Joe McGarvey met up to start writing songs together after both dropping out of college to pursue their shared interest and enthusiasm in music. DJ Passarelli joined the band shortly thereafter to help support Heckmann and McGarvery. Pines would proceed to rotate through different bass players until landing Peter Bariexca full time, allowing the band to definitively craft their unique sound as a full unit. Driven by passion, Pines steadily built up a loyal following in their local music community and continues to expand their musical reach with their consistent nation-wide touring.
Adorned in emotion and introspection, the South Jersey ensemble strides to perfect the art of personal reflection. The album “(i think) things will get better”, stands as an authentic introduction to the band. It begins to document the detailed struggles of expelling the demons of memories past. Songs like Surrender, Empty Hands, and As I Am, paint narratives of judgmental self-worth, frustration in regards to not being able to modify the blueprints of our being, and finding the strength to embrace who we are. Pines' highly anticipated follow up EP “___ ____ __:” continues the never-ending story of one’s altering life experiences. This upcoming release is the bands most vulnerable material to date, covering the most mentally antagonizing subject matter of addiction, family loss, and more. “___ ____ __:” is set for public release in late 2017.
